Colors and the Pre-K kids

Today was a special day as I was able to get the Pre-K kids in for story time and some fun experimenting with colors (shhhhh...don't tell them they're working on STEM stuff)

I read "A Color of His Own" by Leo Lionni and then took kids through 4 stations where they experimented with colors and light.

Kids used a flashlight and CDs to see the "rainbow".

Dissolving Skittles one at a time allows students to create new colors. They had the chance to predict what color would be created with the two Skittles colors they chose.

Using baking soda and a dropper filled with food coloring and vinegar provided students with a two-fold lesson...one on chemical reactions and another in color mixing.

Having student use colored lenses, they created various colors using a specified formula. After hey if she'd they were able to explore other colors.
